Core Competencies

The operational responsibilities of the Eastern DC-7B are currently contracted to Florida Air Transport (FAT) an FAA approved Part 125 operator.  FAT is providing all crew, maintenance, and operational requirements.

President of Florida Air Transport and a graduate of Florida International University as an industrial engineer, Carlos Gomez was exposed to aviation restoration as the child of Martin Gomez, a respected South Florida machinist with his own FAA repair station.  Having worked on numerous restoration projects since childhood and having earned FAA certification as a flight engineer, Carlos is known internationally as an expert in the piston/prop planes of the 20th century.  His restorations in his adult years include two DC-7B’s, one DC-7C, and three DC-6’s.  He currently operates a DC-7B (N381AA),  C-118 (N70BF) (DC-6), and a DC-4 (N406WA) under the company name of Florida Air Transport.

Always generous with his time, Carlos has flown (and continues) to fly with the Super Constellation Flyers around Europe, the MATS Connie group, including the long ferry flight to Seoul, Korea.

His flight crews and maintenance personnel have many years flying and maintaining these classic aircraft.  Their experiences have taken them all over the globe.
